Razan Al Mubarak
H.E. Razan Al Mubarak, Chairman Selection Committee, Assistant Secretary General, Environment Agency , Abu DhabiRazan Al Mubarak has served with EWS-WWF since its inception in 2001, establishing the local WWF office and its local associate Emirates Wildlife Society. As Managing Director, she oversees all projects undertaken by EWS-WWF, leading on strategic engagement on sustainable development, ensuring financial viability and implementation in accordance with WWF International policies and standards, taking into account plans and recommendations as approved by the EWS Board.
Roger Ballentine
Roger Ballentine is the President of Green Strategies Inc., where he advises clients on business strategy, transaction execution, investment evaluation and public policy matters in the energy and environmental arena. He is also a Venture Partner with Arborview Capital LLC, a private equity firm making growth capital investments in the clean energy and energy efficiency sectors. In addition to being a frequent speaker and media commentator, he has been a Lecturer on Law at the Harvard Law School teaching in the area of energy and climate policy and a Senior Fellow at the Progressive Policy Institute in Washington D.C.
Roberta Bowman
Roberta Bowman serves as senior vice president and chief sustainability officer for Duke Energy, one of the world’s leading energy companies. She serves in the Office of the Chairman to represent the company to key stakeholders and works with global, national and industry groups to advance issues important to Duke Energy.
Steve Cowley
Professor Steven Cowley became Director of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority’s Culham Laboratory in September 2008 and Chief Executive of the UK Atomic Energy Authority in November 2009. He received his BA from Oxford University and his PhD. from Princeton University. Professor Cowley’s post-doctoral work was at Culham laboratory and he returned to Princeton in 1987.
Prof. Peter Droege
Professor Peter Droege, President, Eurosolar; General Chairman, World Council for Renewable Energy
Peter Droege is a renowned expert in renewable energy, renewable energy autonomy, research and development and urban energy transition strategies. A Professor for Sustainable Spatial Development at the University of Liechtenstein, he is also a Conjoint Professor, Faculty of Engineering, University of Newcastle, Australia. He holds a number of influential advanced energy research and policy positions. An Expert Commissioner for Cities and Climate Change for the World Future Council he also served on the Steering Committee of the Urban Climate Change Research Network. His earlier academic background includes the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (School of Architecture and Planning), Tokyo University (Endowed Chair Program, Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology) and the University of Sydney, as well as studies at the Technical University of Munich.
Brian Fan
Brian Fan is a cleantech and technology professional with diversified strategy, investment, deal-making and operating experience. As the Head of Research and Technology Roadmap for Masdar City, Brian developed Masdar City’s current technology strategy and roadmap, which focuses on six key areas: smart grid and building automation, advanced cooling, lighting, sustainable materials, energy management software, and electric mobility. Brian was the technology lead for Masdar’s partnership negotiations with Siemens (for smart grid/smart buildings), Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (for transportation systems), and C3 (for energy management software), and is actively involved in the implementation and management of these partnerships, as well as additional partnerships under negotiation.
Dr. Steven Griffiths
Dr. Steven Griffiths is the Executive Director of Institute Initiatives and Professor Chemical Engineering at the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, a private, not-for-profit, independent, graduate-research institute located in Abu Dhabi, UAE.At Masdar Institute Dr. Griffiths has responsibility for developing strategic relationships with industry, government and academia and oversees the Institute’s Office of Sponsored Programs, Technology Transfer Office, and Research Centers of Excellence. His overarching role is to establish and nurture external research collaborations with an emphasis on accelerating the development of a knowledge-based economy in Abu Dhabi and bringing sustainable technologies to market.
Dr. Wyatt Hume
Wyatt R. (Rory) Hume became Provost (the chief academic and chief operating officer) of the United Arab Emirates University, the Nation's premier, research-intensive public university on September 1, 2008. Immediately prior to this appointment he served as Provost for the University of California (UC) system. He qualified in 1968 in dentistry and then in 1973 with a doctorate in philosophy in human physiology and pharmacology at the University of Adelaide, Australia. In 1975 he was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Pharmacology, UCLA School of Medicine, and he then served for seven years as a faculty member in the UCLA School of Dentistry. He was then a department chair and then dean at the Australian Universities of Adelaide and Sydney; then a department chair at UC San Francisco and dean at UCLA. In 1998 he was appointed executive vice chancellor, the chief academic and operating officer for UCLA. In 2002 he became the Vice Chancellor and President of the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. In September 2005 he was appointed Vice President for Health Affairs for the UC system and in May 2006 became UC Provost.
Eswar Mani
Eswar Mani – Investment Manager, Masdar Capital
Eswar Mani has been a part of the finance industry for over ten years with a specialization in M&A, corporate finance, equity-linked structuring and private equity with deal experience in Europe, Middle East and Asia. Eswar is currently an Investment Manager in Masdar Capital tasked with analyzing investment opportunities globally in a wide variety of industries related to clean technologies, in addition to raising funds from Japanese investors. Eswar was instrumental in raising capital for DB Masdar Clean Tech Fund from Development Bank of Japan, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Japan Bank for International Cooperation, JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation and INPEX.
Mika Ohbayashi
Mika Ohbayashi,Scenarios & Policy Regional Manager; International Renewable Energy Agency “IRENA”
As an experienced coordinator in the energy and environmental field, Mika Ohbayashi serves as Adviser on Climate Change Projects and Policies at British Embassy to Japan. She started to work for UK government in September 2008, and served as Deputy Director, the second position at the organization, Institute for Sustainable Energy Policies (ISEP), Japan for 8 years. ISEP was founded in 2000 to establish an independent scientific institute in Japan, on energy and environmental issues.

Dr. Tariq Ali
Dr. Tariq AliDr. Tariq Ali is the Vice President for Research & Industry Relations at Masdar Institute, a private, not-for-profit, independent, graduate-research institute developed in Abu Dhabi, UAE with the support and cooperation of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Appointed to Masdar Institute in April 2009, Dr Ali has responsibility for developing strategic relationships with wider society and industry, locally and globally, to establish and nurture the research-led Institute with an emphasis on accelerating the development of knowledge and sustainable technologies to market.
