1. Who is the Zayed Future Energy Prize awarded to?
The Zayed Future Energy Prize will be awarded to up to three individuals, companies, organisations and NGOs that have made significant contributions in the global response to the future of energy.
 
2. When was the Sheikh Zayed Future Energy Prize launched?
The Zayed Future Energy Prize was announced by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, in January 2008 at the World Future Energy Summit.
 
3. Who is the award named after?
The Prize is named after United Arab Emirates founder and conservationist HH late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
 
4. Is there any information on the Zayed Future Energy Prize amount?
The winner shall receive US$1.5million, and the Zayed Future Energy Prize reserves the right to award other finalists.
 
5. How are the finalists and winner chosen?
A database of over 2000 leading institutions, academics, business leaders and international authorities will be invited to nominate potential prize winners. Nominations will then be reviewed by a selection committee composed of technical experts, who will pass along their top 20 recommendations to the jury. The Jury has the responsibility to select one winner and up to two finalists for this prestigious honour.
 
The Jury is chaired by Dr. R.K. Pachauri, Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which with former U.S. Vice President Al Gore won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for efforts to raise public awareness of the dangers of climate change. 7. How do I find out if a candidate has been nominated for the Zayed Future Energy Prize, or where do I find a list of Zayed Future Energy Prize nominees?
Information about the nominations cannot be disclosed, publicly or privately. The restriction not only concerns the nominees and nominators, but also investigations and opinions in the awarding of a prize.

8. When and where will the Award Ceremony take place?
The Zayed Future Energy Prize will be presented at a ceremony in Abu Dhabi every January.

The Zayed Future Energy Prize is most restrictive in permitting the use of these trademarks.
